The Make it Count campaign makes it as a finalist in the 'National Safety Awards of Excellence'

Sandvik Mining, Australia's nomination entry for the category: 'Best communication of a safety message' in the National Safety Awards of Excellence, Australia, has been selected as a finalist.

In order to make it as a finalist in this category, your company needs to have effectively and innovatively communicated a safety message to its workforce. For Sandvik, this is the Make it Count campaign, which incorporates not only a safety message but also environmental and health messages too.

Sandvik AB is reconfirmed as a member of the FTSE4Good Index Series

The prestigious FTSE4Good Index Series is an index that measures Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance practices in international companies. The purpose of the FTSE4Good index, which was first launched in 2001, is to provide investors with a tool to identify companies that meet globally recognized corporate sustainability standards.

FTSE (Financial Times Stock Exchange) is, together with DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Index), one of the most recognized sustainability indices worldwide and includes among others, the following indicators:

  • Environmental pillar: Climate Change, Pollution and Resources, Water, Biodiversity, and Environmental Supply Chain
  • Social pillar: Labour Standards, Human Rights and Community, Health and Safety, Customer Responsibility, and Social Supply Chain
  • Governance pillar: Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Anti-Corruption, and Tax Transparency

​Sandvik Mining, Zambia secures first place for ‘Sustainable and Environmentally Responsible Development’ at Zaminex

Sandvik has been awarded first place for the award category of ‘Interpretation and Conformity to Theme’ which this year was ‘Sustainable and Environmentally Responsible Development – Beyond Zambia’s Jubilee’ at this year’s 57th Copperbelt Mining, Agricultural and Commercial Show (CMACS) in Kitwe, Zambia, known colloquially as Zaminex.

Sandvik was also awarded second place honours for the following categories: ‘Sustainable Business ‘Suppliers of Heavy Mining and Industry Equipment’ and ‘Overall Stand’.

Sandvik Zweltweg’s ‘2013 Fit Im Job' Health Award

Sandvik Zweltweg, Austria, was awarded the prestigious ‘Fit Im Job Award’ for the health and well-being programme that they are offering to their employees.

They recognise that keeping fit and healthy does not just involve physical pursuits and the provision of sports and nutrition activities but it also means taking into consideration and implementing positive changes within the work place (such as improved communication flow and group sessions to improve team work and reduce potential ‘burn-out’ of individuals) that can be beneficial for not only the body but also the mind. Their mantra is to encompass all aspects of Health and well-being.

On the 15th May 2013, Sandvik Zimbabwe received the 1st runner up award in the category ‘Best Corporate Social Responsibility (HIV/AIDS)’ from the National Zimbabwe Chamber of Commerce.

Later in the year, they also received two awards from the Swedish Workplace HIV/AIDS Programme (SWHAP) at the Annual General Conference held in Johannesburg, South Africa: 1st position in the category of ‘Most Innovative HIV/AIDS and Wellness Programme’, and 1st a runner-up place for the ‘Most Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Programme Award. Sandvik Mining Tanzania were also awarded a 2nd runner-up place for this category.
